UA Tapping on The Mound Ceremony

Time:  1:30 pm

*Location:  English Building Auditorium

*The rain location is in close proximity to The Mound, so parking recommendations/suggestions remain the same. Due to the existing inclement weather and threat of additional weather, the decision has been made to relocate the ceremony to our rain location listed above.  All other information remains the same.  Doors to the Auditorium will open around noon.  Family and Guest seating will be allocated in the center section of the auditorium, with the exception of a few of the front rows.

Accommodations

For questions about accessibility, please contact Dr. Rosalind Moore-Miller at 205-348-6114 or rlmoore@ua.edu. Otherwise, requests can be made by completing the Honoree Survey provided to each student recipient. Requests should be made at least two weeks prior to the event.

Parking

Parking will be made available for guests in the UA Student Center Parking Deck and the Campus Drive Deck.  Those are the closest locations to the Ceremony location

Pictures

The office of UA Parent and Family Programs will host a drop-in Photo Op and Refreshments at their office from 8:00am to 5:00pm on April 7th in UA Student Center Rm. 2512.  Refreshments will be made available. Drop in to commemorate this awesome day with a Family Photo.

At the Tapping on the Mound event you can take pictures from your seats, as well as before and after the ceremony; Due to live-streaming, we will request that individuals do NOT go up to take photos during the event.

Ceremony Logistics

Logistics can change based on weather. UA Health Info is the best resource for current campus health protocols.  However, here are a few additional Ceremony details:

  • Seating at the outdoor & rain back-up ceremony is first come, first serve.
  • Accessible seating will be available; Please remind your student to list accommodations needed on their Honoree Survey (received via email).
  • Guests typically begin arriving to The Mound as early as 12 noon.
  • You can take pictures from your seats, as well as before and after the ceremony; Due to live-streaming, we will request that individuals do NOT go up to take photos during the event.
  • The ceremony last approximately 90 minutes
  • The ceremony will be live-streamed for those who are unable to attend .  Details for accessing the livestream will be made are posted above on this page.
  • Parking is available at the Campus Drive Deck, as well as the UA Student Center Deck.  Accessible parking is available near the Gorgas Library and in close proximity to the rain backup and mound location.
  • This ceremony is one of the longest standing traditions at The University of Alabama.
  • Attire is business professional to business casual.
